Oregonian – The backers of a bill to ban plastic bags have given up this legislative session. Senate Bill 536 stalled without even a floor vote in the Senate, in the face of strong opposition by the plastics lobby. The bill as written would have prohibited single-use plastic bags at checkout from pharmacies and supermarkets. More »
